Bible Verse of the Day October 22, 2026: Philippians 3:14
Bible verse of the day for October 22, 2026: Philippians 3:14. Learn what it means to press toward the mark, how to apply it today, and a short prayer to keep going.
Bible Verse of the Day October 22, 2026: Philippians 3:14
“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14, KJV)
Meaning of the Verse
Paul writes as someone who has not “arrived” but is still moving forward. He keeps his eyes on the goal, which is Christ Himself and the calling God has given.
“I press toward the mark”
“Press” is an active word. It describes steady, determined effort, like a runner leaning toward the finish line.
“The prize of the high calling of God”
The prize is not fame or comfort. It is knowing Christ and finishing the work God gave us to do.
“In Christ Jesus”
We do not press forward in our own strength. The calling, the strength and the prize are all found in Him.
Context
Just before this verse, Paul says he is “forgetting those things which are behind” (verse 13). Moving forward means letting go of past failures, and also past successes that might make us complacent.
How to Apply It Today
- Name one thing from your past that is slowing you down, and release it to God.
- Take one small step toward a goal God has placed on your heart.
- Encourage someone else who is tired of running.
Short Prayer
Lord, help me to forget what is behind and press on toward what You have called me to. Keep my eyes on Christ. Amen.
